The courses of this unique program are delivered by highly qualified Georgian and American outstanding professors and Fulbright scholars from the well-known American Universities invited specially for the program by the U.S. Embassy in Georgia.

Why this program?

American Studies, only English program in Georgia, is a multidisciplinary academic doctoral program designed to explore the U.S. from different angles through concentration on courses: XX Century American Literature, XX Century American Political History, American Ethnicity. In Georgia this is the only American Studies program where courses are conducted in English and dissertation is written and defended in English.

The civil rights movement of 60s in the U.S, Vietnam War, Women’s Rights movement causing cultural tension of Americans caused changes in American Studies field, which violated the disciplinary borders and gave way to multidisciplinary and simultaneously interdisciplinary program. Therefore, the American Studies program at IBSU is multidisciplinary and simultaneously interdisciplinary.

Why this program?

The aim of the educational program is to prepare highly qualified personnel with basic theoretical knowledge and skills important to the profession of architect. The skills mentioned above imply the ability of graduates to analyze identifying characteristic of design area, make sketches and professional architectural project using existing building regulations. The program aims to provide students not only with theoretical knowledge, but with practical experience as well by supporting them organize internships in different enterprises. The BA program in Economics was established in 2011 and offer studies in English as well as in Georgian. It introduces students to macro- and microeconomic theory, monetary and fiscal policies, models of international economics. Furthermore, the program also covers issues related to the Georgian economy, its current trends, and challenges. The purposes of the program are: to provide students with contemporary knowledge of education administration and to prepare qualified specialists in education administration who are able to be the leaders and administrators  of the field according to contemporary requirements who will be able to help improve education in their countries in order to stimulate its development;  to train education administrators both in general pedagogical and psychological aspects and particular issues of education administration, such as leadership in education and experience of various countries in administering the system of education; not only to form the corresponding to the field knowledge and skills that will enable them to be employed both nationally and internationally, but also to develop student’s study skills, learner’s autonomy, in order to enable them to continue their education on the further (doctorate) cycle and independently. 1.1. The goal of the program is that the graduates possess knowledge of English language (reading, writing, listening, speaking) at B2-C1 level (according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages CEFR);

Bachelor Program in International Relations aims at providing a modern multidisciplinary knowledge of international relations with essential input from political science, economic and legal disciplines relevant to the field. The Program helps foster critical thinking and leads to a natural connection between theory and practice in compliance with increasing demands towards contemporary standards of education, ensuring graduates’ employability within the country as well as abroad.

The only English U.S. foreign affairs master program is the continuation of the Bachelor American Studies multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary program opened first time in Georgia at the International Black Sea University (IBSU) in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy. Uniqueness of interdisciplinary and the multidisciplinary American Studies BA program involving a wide scope of humanitarian disciplines and the students’ great interest towards American History and Politics encouraged us to create the master program in U.S. Foreign Affairs, that will deepen the knowledge of courses: American History, Politics, American Culture and Society and provide more fundamental study of the U.S. domestic and foreign policy issues, linked to unique immigration historic past.
