Why this program?

The mission of International Design School of Georgian Technical University is to provide students with the knowledge to embark on a successful career in the specializations of interior and furniture design, product design, transportation design, visual communication design, architecture, and to be able to apply their skills to other allied design-related specializations. International Design School aims to broadly introduce to Georgia, on an academic and learning levels, as well as in practice, the concept of Design Thinking. Successful application of the concept to teaching in such leading institutions as Stanford University and MIT in the USA, or Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam, Germany, demonstrated that the American and European education systems are embracing the design thinking philosophy, and the IDS prides itself to be the first D-School in Georgia and the entire Trans Caucasian region to incorporate it as the basis for its curriculum.

The teaching approach aims at adequately preparing our students for the future and the changing demands that designers and architects are facing. This is why we also support our students in gaining technical skills. Equipped with computer workstations, model shop, Fab Lab, access to CNC manufacturing facility for CAD-CAM real-time operations, as well as a number of test chambers for building materials, our faculty provides a cutting-edge work environment
