Why this program?

American MD (USMD) program is designed to train internationally competitive and
competent, highly qualified physicians (Doctors) who are ready for postgraduate education and
the specific training courses, both in Georgia and abroad (particularly in the U.S.). The medical
cadres are prepared according to the requirements and standards of the country medical/public
health care system.  

American MD Program offers a wide choice of possibilities, including:
1. Considers the elements of general university education - the program includes a set of
humanitarian subjects: In the medical field of Georgia, it is actually the only program
which includes teaching disciplines such as the history of civilizations, Anthropology,
Art history, Philosophy, World literature, etc. All these disciplines are integrated taking
into account the so-called "Axis of Time".
2. The program is fully integrated - integration is achieved through the basic, preclinical
and clinical disciplines of both horizontal and vertical principles.
3. The program structure provides to pass two steps in the US Medical License Examination
- the program is so structured to allow students to be able to pass two steps to the so called United State Medical License Examination (USMLE). In addition, on the basis of
the agreement between TSMU and Emory University, any student of the American MD
Program, which will pass the first level of USML exams during the course, has a right
undergo some part of clinical rotations in Emory Medical School.
4. Research component - research component is presented in the program with
considerable volume, which considers the involvement of a student in a basic or clinical
medicine, health care organization and other areas of medicine.
5. One of the features of the program is structured system of student public education: Each
student is associated with the public, that's why the program devotes much attention to
this issue. Each group has an advisor - a small group coordinator who helps the student
during the full course of the program in the process of adaptation to the academic
environment, university and general requirements of the society.
6. The extracurricular part of the program is project of "Summer at Emory" and "Winter at
Emory", which was initiated by Emory University to encourage program students. This
project is implemented twice a year and aims to introduce the American medical
education and health care systems to TSMU students. The project is 4 weeks long and
students have the opportunity to attend the current study process (lecture-seminars), as
well as the daily clinical activities of American doctors. 

Why this program?

Educational program ,,Dental Medicine” is designed to prepare a highly qualified, competitive, Doctor of Dental Medicine with the competence relevant to modern requirements. In other words, the program aims to equip graduates with knowledge and skills based on which a Doctor of Dental Medicine will be able to hold a working position in dental clinics, continue education on the next level of higher and/or professional education (residency, doctoral degree (PhD)) and specialization, as well as, realization and career advancement in public or professional activities. The goals of the program, in more detail, means to train the student in the following directions: Apply and critically understand the basic knowledge of biomedical disciplines, clinical sciences and medical field in process of high quality patient care in relation to the profile issues of dental medicine / dentistry; Diagnose the health problems of dental patient timely, in an appropriate and effective manner; Take effective measures for the prevention of dental diseases; Treat, manage and promote the dental patient with patient-centered care; Communicate with the dental patient in an effective and professional way;  Self-develop within the current legislation based on highly professional and ethical values

The defining goal of the Medical Educational Program for MD is to train highly qualified and competent physicians who respond to contemporary challenges. In other words, the program serves to provide graduates with the
knowledge and skills, upon which they will be able to get a job position in the clinics, continue study to the next level and develop their professional skills.

Why this program?

The Pharmacy Bachelor’s Program, in line with TSMU's mission, vision, values and strategic development policy, provides training for Bachelor of Pharmacy competitors in line with competitive, modern field development requirements and values, with continuous professional development skills. The Program aims to give the student knowledge:  On the biomedical and chemical basis of the pharmaceutical sciences;  About basic principles of pharmaceutical activity. Ø To make the student: · Ability to engage in pharmaceutical care (within competence); · Ability to perform pharmaceutical analysis and make conclusions; · Ability to participate in the production of pharmaceutical products.

Why this program?

Aim of the program is to prepare competitive and competent bachelor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation through outcome-based teaching approach and development of clinical/practical skills relevant to the learning outcomes, able to: to apply basic biomedical research methods and evidence-based practice to the process of physical therapy examination, evaluation, intervention, and rehabilitation management, based on biopsychosocial approach, to prevent or remediate impairments, functional limitations and disabilities as related to movement and health across all ages, to improve functional movement potential and quality of life; to provide rehabilitation services in both in-patient and out-patient settings, based on the multi/interdisciplinary team approach, utilizing appropriate interpersonal skills;  to conduct in professional and ethical manner, with responsible approach to societal needs;  to develop independent learning skills/activities and foster continuing professional growth and life-long learning.

Why this program?

The aim of the program is to train professionals in public healthcare management and healthcare policy who will be able to play the roles of a leader at the national and international arena in rendering leading services, research, practice, policy and systemic analysis of healthcare. Issues of modern management, education, research and service provision are studied within the scope of the program at the regional, national and international levels of public health combining the broad basics of public health and four macro-fields (global health, healthcare policy and management, behavioral sciences and biostatistics). Main focus in made on strengthening public healthcare systems in low and medium-income countries. The program was jointly prepared and will be implemented by Tbilisi State Medical University (Tbilisi, Georgia) and UniMan, Academy of Management and Enforcement (Grenoble, France). Graduates will be granted the MA degree of both establishments and given two diplomas on the basis of the rule defined by the legislation recognized by Georgia and the Republic of France.
